Impreza jest wydarzeniem jeździeckim, w którym pojedynczy konia i jeździec kombinują się przeciwko innym kombinacjom w trzech dyscyplinach ujeżdżenia, cross-country i pokazują skoków. To wydarzenie ma swoje korzenie w kompleksowym testie kawalerii wymagającym opanowania kilku rodzajów jazdy. Konkurs może odbywać się jako jednodniowe wydarzenie, w którym wszystkie trzy imprezy są zakończone w ciągu jednego dnia lub trzydniowego wydarzenia, które jest obecnie prowadzone przez cztery dni, a ujeżdżenie w ciągu pierwszych dwóch dni, a następnie przez cross country następnego dnia, a następnie w ostatnim dniu skoków w kolejności odwrotnej. Eventing był poprzednio znany jako Combined Training (Szkolenie Kombinowane), a nazwa nadal występuje w wielu mniejszych organizacjach.
