Transputer
Transputer był pionierską architekturą mikroprocesora lat 80. XX wieku, wyposażoną w zintegrowane pamięci i szeregowe łącza komunikacyjne, przeznaczone do równoległego przetwarzania danych. Został zaprojektowany i wyprodukowany przez firmę Inmos, firmę półprzewodnikową z siedzibą w Bristolu w Wielkiej Brytanii. Przez pewien czas pod koniec lat 80. wielu uważało transputer za kolejny świetny projekt na rzecz przyszłości komputerów. Choć Inmos i transputer nie osiągnęły ostatecznie tego oczekiwania, architektura transputerów miała duży wpływ na prowokowanie nowymi pomysłami w architekturze komputerowej, z których wiele pojawiło się w odmiennych formach w nowoczesnych systemach.
