Jest to pierwszy album zespołu od prawie czterech lat, najdłuższy dystans między albumami w karierze 311. Uplifter został wyprodukowany przez Boba Rock'a, który wyprodukował lub zmodyfikował albumy przez liczne akcje, takie jak Metallica, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Our Lady Peace i The Offspring. Zadebiutowała na trzecim miejscu na liście Billboard 200, na najwyższym miejscu do tej pory.
