विशेष—सज्जी दो प्रकार की होती है । एक वह जो मालावार की ओर बनाई जाती है । इसमें बड़ी बड़ी खाइयाँ खोदकर
उनमे वृक्षों की शाखाएँ और पत्ते आदि भरकर आग लगा
देते हैं । जब वे जलकर जम जाते हैं, तब उनकी राख को
खारी कहते हैं । इसी खारी से भूमि में सज्जी बनाते हैं ।
दूसरे प्रकार की सज्जी खार (क्षार) वाली जमीन में होती है । खार के कारण भूमि फूल जाती है और उसी फूली हुई ।
मिट्टी को सज्जी कहते हैं । वैद्यक के अनुसार सज्जी गरम,
तीक्ष्ण और वायुगोला, शूल, बात, कफ, कृमिरोग आदि को
शांत करनेवाली मानी जाती है ।
