Lente acromática
Uma lente acromática ou aquromat é uma lente projetada para limitar os efeitos da aberração cromática e esférica. As lentes acromáticas são corrigidas para colocar dois comprimentos de onda em foco no mesmo plano. O tipo mais comum de achromat é o duplo duto acromático, que é composto de duas lentes individuais feitas a partir de óculos com diferentes quantidades de dispersão. Tipicamente, um elemento é um elemento negativo feito de vidro de sílex tal como F2, que tem dispersão relativamente alta, e o outro é um elemento positivo feito de vidro de coroa tal como BK7, que tem menor dispersão. Os elementos da lente estão montados um ao lado do outro, muitas vezes cimentados em conjunto e moldados para que a aberração cromática de um seja contrabalançada pela outra. No tipo mais comum, a potência positiva do elemento da lente coroa não é bastante igualada pela potência negativa do elemento da lente de pederneira. Juntos eles formam uma lente positiva fraca que trará dois comprimentos de onda diferentes para um foco comum. Os dupletos negativos, em que predomina o elemento de potência negativa, também são feitos.
