Adenoidectomia
Remoção cirúrgica de adenoidectomias das adenoides por razões que incluem distúrbios respiratórios através do nariz, infecções crônicas ou dor nas costas recorrentes. A cirurgia é menos comum em adultos em que as adenóides são consideradas vestigiais e sem propósito. Geralmente é feito ambulatoriamente sob anestesia geral. A dor pós-operatória é geralmente mínima e reduzida por alimentos gelados ou frios. O procedimento pode ser combinado com amigdalectomia se indicado e o tempo de recuperação pode variar de várias horas a dois ou três dias. A adenoidectomia geralmente não é realizada com menos de um ano de idade, uma vez que a função adenoide faz parte do sistema imunológico do corpo, mas sua contribuição para isso diminui progressivamente para além dessa idade.
