Regulação alostérica
Na bioquímica, a regulação alostérica é a regulação de uma enzima ou outra proteína, ligando uma molécula efetora no sítio alostérico da proteína. Os locais alostéricos permitem que os efetores se liguem à proteína, muitas vezes resultando em uma mudança conformacional ou outra alteração na eficácia da enzima. Os efectores que aumentam a atividade da proteína são chamados de ativadores alostéricos, enquanto aqueles que diminuem a atividade da proteína são chamados de inibidores alostéricos. O termo allostery vem do grego allos, "outro", e estereótipos, "sólido", em referência ao fato de que o site regulatório de uma proteína alostérica é fisicamente distinto do seu site ativo. Os regulamentos Allostéricos são um exemplo natural de loops de controle, como comentários de produtos a jusante ou feedforward de substratos a montante. O alostery de longo alcance é especialmente importante na sinalização celular.
