Idioma amárico
Amárico (/ æmhærɪk / ou / ɑːmhɑrɪk /; Amárico: አማርኛ, Amarəñña, IPA: (escute)) é uma língua semítica falada na Etiópia. É a língua semítica mais difundida no mundo, depois do árabe, e a língua de trabalho oficial da República Democrática Federal da Etiópia. Assim, tem status oficial e é usado em todo o país. O amárico também é o idioma oficial ou de trabalho de vários estados do sistema federal. Tem sido a língua de trabalho do governo, dos militares e da Igreja Ortodoxa Tewahedo etíope ao longo dos tempos medievais e modernos. Fora da Etiópia, o amárico é o idioma de cerca de 2,7 milhões de emigrantes. Está escrito (da esquerda para a direita) usando Amharic Fidel, ፊደል, que surgiu do Ge'ez abugida chamado, nas línguas semíticas etíopes, ፊደል fidel ("alfabeto", "letra" ou "personagem") e አቡጊዳ abugida (das quatro primeiras letras etíopes, que deram origem ao moderno termo linguístico abugida). Não existe uma maneira convencional de transliterar o amárico para personagens romanos.
