Anosmia
A anosmia é a incapacidade de perceber o odor ou a falta de funcionamento do olfato. A anosmia pode ser temporária, mas a anosmia traumática pode ser permanente. A anosmia é devida a uma inflamação da mucosa nasal; bloqueio de passagens nasais ou destruição de um lobo temporal. Especificamente, de acordo com o jornal The Lancet, a inflamação é devido a alterações crônicas da mucosa no revestimento do seio paranasal e nos cornetins médios e superiores. Uma vez que a anosmia provoca alterações inflamatórias nas formas de passagem nasal, é tratada simplesmente reduzindo a presença de inflamação.
