A terapia de aversão é uma forma de tratamento psicológico em que o paciente é exposto a um estímulo e simultaneamente sendo submetido a alguma forma de desconforto. Este condicionamento destina-se a fazer com que o paciente associe o estímulo com sensações desagradáveis para parar o comportamento específico. As terapias de aversão podem assumir várias formas, por exemplo: colocar substâncias desagradáveis nas unhas para desencorajar o mascaramento de unhas; combinando o uso de um emético com a experiência do álcool; ou comportamento de emparelhamento com choques elétricos de várias intensidades.
