Biodisponibilidade
Na farmacologia, a biodisponibilidade é uma subcategoria de absorção e é a fração de uma dose administrada de fármaco inalterado que atinge a circulação sistêmica, uma das principais propriedades farmacocinéticas dos medicamentos. Por definição, quando uma medicação é administrada por via intravenosa, a sua biodisponibilidade é de 100%. No entanto, quando uma medicação é administrada através de outras rotas, a sua biodisponibilidade geralmente diminui ou pode variar de paciente para paciente. A biodisponibilidade é uma das ferramentas essenciais na farmacocinética, uma vez que a biodisponibilidade deve ser considerada no cálculo das dosagens para rotas de administração não intravenosas. Para suplementos dietéticos, ervas e outros nutrientes em que a via de administração é quase sempre oral, a biodisponibilidade geralmente designa simplesmente a quantidade ou fração da dose ingerida que é absorvida.
