Bobsleigh ou bobsled é um esporte de inverno em que equipes de dois ou quatro cronometram corridas trilhas estreitas, torcidas, depositadas, geladas em um trenó gravitacional. As corridas cronometradas são combinadas para calcular o resultado final. Os vários tipos de trenós vieram vários anos antes de as primeiras faixas serem construídas em St. Moritz, na Suíça, onde os bobsles originais foram adaptados trilhos de luto / esqueleto projetados pelos aventureiros ricos para transportar passageiros. Todos os três tipos foram adaptados dos trenós e tobogãs de entrega de meninos. A competição seguiu naturalmente, e para proteger a classe trabalhadora e visitantes ricos nas ruas e estradas de St Moritz, o bobsledding foi eventualmente banido da via pública. No inverno de 1903/1904, a família Badrutt, proprietários do histórico Hotel Kulm e do Palace Hotel, permitiu que Emil Thoma organizasse a construção da primeira trilha familiarmente configurada "half-pipe" no Kulm Hotel Park, terminando na aldeia de Cresta. Ele organizou o esporte durante duas Olimpíadas e ainda está em uso hoje.
