Portão de Brandenburgo
O Portão de Brandenburgo é um antigo portão da cidade, reconstruído no final do século 18 como um arco de triunfo neoclássico e agora um dos marcos mais conhecidos da Alemanha. Está localizado na parte ocidental do centro da cidade de Berlim, na junção de Unter den Linden e Ebertstraße, imediatamente a oeste da Pariser Platz. A uma quadra do norte fica o prédio do Reichstag. O portão é a entrada monumental para Unter den Linden, a famosa avenida de tilins, que anteriormente conduzia diretamente ao palácio da cidade dos monarcas prusianos. Foi encomendado pelo rei Frederick William II da Prússia como sinal de paz e construído por Carl Gotthard Langhans de 1788 a 1791. Tendo sofrido danos consideráveis na Segunda Guerra Mundial, o Portão de Brandenburgo foi totalmente restaurado de 2000 a 2002 pelo Stiftung Denkmalschutz Berlin . Durante a partição de pós-guerra da Alemanha, o portão estava isolado e inacessível imediatamente ao lado do Muro de Berlim, e a área ao redor do portão apresentou-se de forma mais proeminente na cobertura da mídia na abertura do muro em 1989.
