Capitalização
A capitalização está escrevendo uma palavra com sua primeira letra como letra maiúscula e as letras restantes em minúsculas nos sistemas de escrita com uma distinção de caso. O termo também é usado para a escolha do caso no texto. Os sistemas de escrita convencional para diferentes idiomas possuem diferentes convenções para a capitalização. O uso sistemático de palavras em maiúsculas e não capitalizadas no texto em execução é chamado de "caso misto". As convenções para a capitalização de títulos e outras classes de palavras variam entre idiomas e, em menor escala, entre diferentes guias de estilo. Em algumas linguas escritas, não é óbvio o que se entende pela "primeira letra": por exemplo, o digrafo sul-eslavo 'lj' é considerado como um caractere único para fins de agrupamento e pode ser representado por um único caractere Unicode, mas No início de uma palavra, ele está escrito 'Lj': somente o L é maiúscula. Em contraste, em holandês, quando uma palavra começa com o digrafo 'ij', a capitalização é aplicada a ambas as letras, como em nome da cidade de IJmuiden.
