Causativo
Na linguística, uma causa é uma operação de aumento de valência que indica que um sujeito faz com que alguém ou algo mais faça ou seja algo, ou provoque uma mudança no estado de um evento não volitivo. Prototípicamente, traz um novo argumento, A, em uma cláusula transitiva, com o S original se tornando O. Todas as línguas têm maneiras de expressar a causação, mas diferem nos meios. A maioria, se não todas as línguas, têm formas causadoras lexicais. Algumas línguas também possuem dispositivos morfológicos que alteram verbos em suas formas causadoras, ou adjetivos em verbos de tornar-se. Outras línguas empregam periprrasis, com expressões idiomáticas ou verbos auxiliares. Também tende a ser um link entre o quão "compacto" é um dispositivo causativo e seu significado semântico. Note-se que a causalidade prototípica inglesa é feita, em vez de causar. Os termos linguísticos tradicionalmente são nomeados com uma raiz romance, o que levou alguns a acreditar que a causa é mais prototípica. Embora a causa seja causadora, ela traz algum significado lexical e é menos comum do que fazer.
