Cavalier Poets é uma ampla descrição de uma escola de poetas ingleses do século 17, que vieram das aulas que apoiaram o rei Charles I durante a Guerra Civil inglesa. Charles, um conhecedor das belas artes, apoiou poetas que criaram a arte que desejava. Estes poetas, por sua vez, se agruparam com o Rei e seu serviço, tornando-se Cavaliers Poetas. Um cavalheiro era tradicionalmente um soldado ou um cavaleiro montado, mas quando o termo era aplicado a quem apoiava Charles, deveria representá-los como galantes. O termo era assim destinado a diminuir e insultar. No entanto, tornou-se o termo ao qual os que apoiaram Charles foi aplicado.
