Resonador
Um ressonador é um dispositivo ou sistema que exibe ressonância ou comportamento ressonante, isto é, oscila naturalmente em algumas freqüências, chamadas freqüências de ressonância, com maior amplitude do que em outros. As oscilações em um ressonador podem ser eletromagnéticas ou mecânicas. Os ressonadores são usados para gerar ondas de freqüências específicas ou selecionar freqüências específicas a partir de um sinal. Os instrumentos musicais utilizam ressonadores acústicos que produzem ondas sonoras de tons específicos. Um ressonador de cavidade, geralmente usado em referência a ressonadores eletromagnéticos, é aquele em que as ondas existem em um espaço oco dentro do dispositivo. Os ressonadores de cavidade acústica, em que o som é produzido pelo ar que vibra em uma cavidade com uma abertura, são conhecidos como ressonadores de Helmholtz.
