O QUE SIGNIFICA CHLOROPHYLL EM INGLÊS
Clorofila
A clorofila é um pigmento verde encontrado em cianobactérias e os cloroplastos de algas e plantas. Seu nome é derivado das palavras gregas χλωρός, chloros e φύλλον, phyllon. A clorofila é uma biomolécula extremamente importante, crítica na fotossíntese, que permite que as plantas absorvam energia da luz. A clorofila absorve a luz mais forte na porção azul do espectro eletromagnético, seguido pela porção vermelha. Por outro lado, é um pobre absorvente de porções verdes e quase verdes do espectro, daí a cor verde dos tecidos que contêm clorofila. A clorofila foi isolada pela primeira vez por Joseph Bienaimé Caventou e Pierre Joseph Pelletier em 1817.
