Depside
Um depside é um tipo de composto polifenólico composto por duas ou mais unidades aromáticas monocíclicas ligadas por uma ligação éster. Os depsides são mais frequentemente encontrados em líquenes, mas também foram isolados de plantas superiores, incluindo espécies de Ericaceae, Lamiaceae, Papaveraceae e Myrtaceae. Depsides tem atividade antibiótica, anti-HIV, antioxidante e anti-proliferativa. Como inibidores da síntese de prostaglandinas e biossíntese de leucotrienos B4, os depsides são potentes antiinflamatórios não esteróides. A depsidase é um tipo de enzima que corta ligações depsides. Uma dessas enzimas é a tannase. O ácido girofórico, encontrado no liquen Cryptothecia rubrocincta, é um depside.
