O QUE SIGNIFICA ELECTROJET EM INGLÊS
Electrojet
Um eletrojet é uma corrente elétrica que viaja ao redor da região E da ionosfera terrestre. Existem dois eletrojetos: acima do equador magnético e perto dos Círculos Polares do Norte e do Sul. Os eletrojetos são correntes de Hall transportadas principalmente por elétrons em altitudes de 100 a 150 km. Nesta região, a freqüência de giroscópios eletrônicos é muito maior do que a freqüência de colisão neutra em elétrons. Em contraste, os principais íons da região E têm girosferas muito menores do que a freqüência de colisão neutra ao íon. Kristian Birkeland foi o primeiro a sugerir que as correntes elétricas polares estão conectadas a um sistema de filamentos que circulam pelas linhas de campo geomagnético para dentro e fora da região polar.
