A energia de Fermi é um conceito em mecânica quântica que geralmente se refere à diferença de energia entre os estados de partículas únicas mais altas e mais baixas, em um sistema quântico de fermiões não interativos em temperatura zero absoluta. Em um gás Fermi, o estado mais baixo ocupado é levado a ter zero energia cinética, enquanto que em um metal, o estado mais baixo ocupado é normalmente considerado como o fundo da banda de condução. Confusivamente, o termo "Energia Fermi" é freqüentemente usado para se referir a um conceito diferente, mas estreitamente relacionado, do nível de Fermi.
