Hexâmetro
Hexameter é uma linha métrica de versos que consiste em seis pés. Era o medidor épico padrão na literatura grega e latina clássica, como na Ilíada, Odisseia e Aeneid. Seu uso em outros gêneros de composição inclui satires de Horace, Metamorfoses de Ovídio e os Hinos de Orfeu. De acordo com a mitologia grega, o hexâmetro foi inventado pelo deus Hermes. No hexâmetro clássico, os seis pés seguem estas regras: ▪ Um pé pode ser formado por duas longas sílabas, uma esponda; ou uma longa e duas sílabas curtas, um dactyl. ▪ Os primeiros quatro pés podem conter qualquer um deles. ▪ O quinto é quase sempre um dactyl, e o último deve ser um espondee. Uma sílaba curta é uma sílaba com uma vogal curta e uma consoante no final. Uma sílaba longa é uma sílaba que tem uma vogal longa, duas ou mais consoantes no final, ou ambas. No entanto, os espaços entre as palavras não são contados, então, por exemplo, "chapéu" é normalmente curto, mas é longo em "lançamento de chapéu", devido ao "th" na próxima palavra. Em Adonais de Shelley, a última linha de cada estrofe é um hexâmetro.
