Hiperestesia
A hiperestesia é uma condição que envolve um aumento anormal da sensibilidade aos estímulos do sentido. "Quando um estímulo não-nocivo provoca sensação de dor, a área será denominada hiperestética". Os estímulos dos sentidos podem incluir o som que alguém ouve, alimentos que um prova, texturas que se sente, e assim por diante. O aumento da sensibilidade ao toque é referido como "hiperestesia tátil", e o aumento da sensibilidade ao som é denominado "hiperestesia auditiva".
