A cidade de Imphal (/ ɪmpəl /, Imphal.ogg (help · info)) é a capital do estado indiano de Manipur. As ruínas do Palácio de Kangla estão no centro da cidade, cercadas por um fosso. O Forte de Kangla foi o lar dos paramilitares Assam Rifles até novembro de 2004, quando foi transferido para o estado de Manipur pelo primeiro-ministro Manmohan Singh. Pela primeira vez no teatro do sudeste asiático, os japoneses perderam a iniciativa dos Aliados, (que o manteve até o final da guerra). Em 18 de junho de 1997, o distrito de Imphal foi dividido em Imphal East e Imphal West.
