Hora Internacional Atômica
International Atomic Time é um padrão de tempo de coordenadas atômicas de alta precisão, baseado na passagem nocional do tempo apropriado no geóide da Terra. É a base do Tempo Universal Coordenado, que é usado para o cronograma civil em toda a superfície da Terra e para o Tempo Terrestre, que é usado para cálculos astronômicos. Desde 30 de junho de 2012, quando o último salto foi adicionado, TAI foi exatamente 35 segundos antes do UTC. Os 35 segundos resultam da diferença inicial de 10 segundos no início de 1972, mais 25 segundos de salto em UTC desde 1972. As coordenadas de tempo nas escalas TAI são convencionalmente especificadas usando os meios tradicionais de especificar dias, passados de padrões de tempo não uniformes com base na rotação da Terra. Especificamente, ambas as datas julianas e o calendário gregoriano são usados. O TAI desta forma foi sincronizado com o Tempo Universal no início de 1958, e os dois se afastaram desde então, devido ao movimento em mudança da Terra.
