Leucocitose
Leucocitose é uma contagem de glóbulos brancos acima do intervalo normal no sangue. É freqüentemente um sinal de uma resposta inflamatória, mais comumente o resultado da infecção, mas também pode ocorrer após certas infecções parasitárias ou tumores ósseos. Também pode ocorrer após um exercício extenuante, convulsões como epilepsia, estresse emocional, gravidez e trabalho, anestesia e administração de epinefrina. Existem cinco principais tipos de leucocitose: ▪ Neutrofilia ▪ Linfocitose ▪ Monocitose ▪ Eosinofilia ▪ Basofilia Este aumento nos leucócitos é geralmente acompanhado de um "deslocamento esquerdo" na proporção de neutrófilos imaturos para adultos maduros. A proporção de leucócitos imaturos aumenta devido à proliferação e liberação de precursores de granulócitos e monócitos na medula óssea que é estimulada por vários produtos de inflamação, incluindo C3a e G-CSF. Embora possa indicar doença, a leucocitose é considerada um achado de laboratório em vez de uma doença separada. Esta classificação é semelhante à da febre, que também é um resultado de teste em vez de uma doença.
