Geografia da linguagem
A geografia da linguagem é o ramo da geografia humana que estuda a distribuição geográfica da linguagem ou seus elementos constituintes. Existem dois principais campos de estudo dentro da geografia do idioma: a "geografia das línguas", que trata da distribuição através da história e do espaço das línguas, e "geografia linguística", que trata das variações lingüísticas regionais dentro das línguas. Vários outros termos e subdisciplinas foram sugeridos, inclusive; uma divisão no exame da geografia linguística que separa os estudos de mudança ao longo do tempo e do espaço; 'geolinguistics', um estudo dentro da geografia da linguagem relacionada com "a análise dos padrões de distribuição e as estruturas espaciais das línguas em contato", mas nenhum ganhou muita moeda.
