Linfocitose
A linfocitose é um aumento no número ou proporção de linfócitos no sangue. Na linfocitose absoluta, a contagem total de linfócitos é elevada. Em adultos, a linfocitose absoluta está presente quando a contagem absoluta de linfócitos é superior a 4000 por microlitro, em crianças mais velhas acima de 7000 por microlitro e em lactentes maiores que 9000 por microlitro. Os linfócitos normalmente representam 20 a 40% dos glóbulos brancos circulantes. A linfocitose relativa ocorre quando há uma maior proporção de linfócitos entre os glóbulos brancos, enquanto a contagem absoluta de linfócitos é normal. A linfocitose relativa é normal em crianças menores de 2 anos. A linfocitose geralmente é detectada quando uma contagem sanguínea completa é rotineiramente obtida. A contagem absoluta de linfócitos pode ser medida diretamente pela citometria de fluxo, ou calculada pela multiplicação da contagem total de glóbulos brancos pela porcentagem de linfócitos encontrados na contagem diferencial.
