Macula de retina
A mácula ou macula lutea é uma mancha amarela pigmentada de forma oval perto do centro da retina do olho humano. Tem um diâmetro de cerca de 6 mm e muitas vezes é histologicamente definido como tendo duas ou mais camadas de células ganglionares. Perto de seu centro é a fovea, um poço pequeno que contém a maior concentração de células de cone no olho e é responsável pela visão central e de alta resolução. A mácula também contém a parafovea e perifovea.
