Microform
As microformas são formas, filmes ou papel, contendo microproduções de documentos para transmissão, armazenamento, leitura e impressão. As imagens de microfone são comumente reduzidas para cerca de um vigésimo quinto do tamanho original do documento. Para fins especiais, podem ser utilizadas maiores reduções ópticas. Todas as imagens de microfone podem ser fornecidas como positivas ou negativas, mais frequentemente as últimas. Três formatos são comuns: microfilmes, cartões de abertura e microfichas. As microcards, um formato que não produzia mais, eram semelhantes às microfichas, mas impressas em papelão em vez de filmes fotográficos.
