Monismo
O monismo é a visão filosófica de que uma variedade de coisas existentes podem ser explicadas em termos de uma única realidade ou substância. A definição ampla afirma que todas as coisas existentes retornam a uma fonte que é distinta delas. Uma definição de monismo comumente usada e restrita afirma a presença de uma substância ou essência unificadora. É preciso distinguir o "monismo do material" do "monismo das coisas". De acordo com o monismo, há apenas um tipo de coisa, embora possa haver muitas coisas feitas com essas coisas. De acordo com o monismo da coisa, existe estritamente falando apenas uma única coisa, que só pode ser artificial e arbitrariamente dividida em muitas coisas. Em contraste com o monismo, são o dualismo metafísico e o pluralismo metafísico. O termo monismo se originou da filosofia ocidental, e muitas vezes foi aplicado a várias religiões.
