Bacia de Okavango
A Bacia do Okavango é uma bacia endorética no sudoeste da África, que se estende por porções de Angola, Botswana, Namíbia e Zimbabwe. A bacia cobre uma área de 721 mil quilômetros quadrados. O rio Okavango é o fluxo principal na bacia. É formado pela confluência dos rios Cubango e Cuito, que se originam no Planalto de Bihé do centro de Angola e flutuam a sudeste. O Cubango é unido logo acima de sua confluência com o Cuito pelo rio Omatako, que flui a nordeste de sua origem na região de Damaraland, no centro da Namíbia. O Okavango continua através da Tira Caprivi da Namíbia até o Botswana, onde se divide em vários distribuidores para formar o delta do Okavango, um grande delta do interior que se torna uma pastagem estacionalmente inundada. Uma série de salinas situa-se nos pontos mais baixos da bacia, incluindo o Nwako Pan ao sul do Delta do Okavango e o vasto Panela de Makgadikgadi, ao sudeste do Delta. Em momentos de alto fluxo, o Okavango derrama o Nwako Pan através dos distribuidores de Xudum e Nhabe para reabastecer o lago Ngami, um lago salino e no Lago Xau e a extremidade ocidental do Panela Makgadikgadi através do distributário Boteti.
