OPEP
A OPEP é uma organização internacional e um cartel econômico cuja missão é coordenar as políticas dos países produtores de petróleo. O objetivo é garantir uma renda estável para os Estados membros e colidir em influenciar os preços mundiais do petróleo através de meios econômicos. A OPEP é uma organização intergovernamental que foi criada na Conferência de Bagdá de 10 a 14 de setembro de 1960, pelo Iraque, Kuwait, Irã, Arábia Saudita e Venezuela. Mais tarde, juntaram-se mais nove novos governos: Líbia, Emirados Árabes Unidos, Qatar, Indonésia, Argélia, Nigéria, Equador, Angola e Gabão. A OPEP teve sua sede em Genebra, Suíça, antes de se mudar para Viena, na Áustria, em 1º de setembro de 1965. A OPEP se formou no momento em que o mercado internacional de petróleo estava em grande parte dominado por empresas multinacionais, as "sete irmãs". A "Declaração de Política" da OPEP afirma que existe um direito de todos os países de exercer soberania sobre seus recursos naturais. Como a OPEP é uma organização de países, os membros individuais têm imunidade soberana por suas ações, o que significa que a OPEP não é considerada como sujeita ao direito da concorrência da maneira normal.
