Pistão
Um pistão é um componente de motores alternativos, bombas alternadas, compressores de gás e cilindros pneumáticos, entre outros mecanismos similares. É o componente móvel que é contido por um cilindro e é feito à prova de gás por anéis de pistão. Em um motor, o objetivo é transferir a força da expansão do gás no cilindro para a cambota através de uma haste de êmbolo e / ou biela. Em uma bomba, a função é invertida e a força é transferida da virabrequim para o pistão com a finalidade de comprimir ou ejetar o fluido no cilindro. Em alguns motores, o pistão também atua como uma válvula, cobrindo e descobrindo as portas na parede do cilindro.
