Pirâmide da população
Uma pirâmide populacional, também chamada de pirâmide etária ou diagrama de idade, é uma ilustração gráfica que mostra a distribuição de vários grupos etários em uma população, que forma a forma de uma pirâmide quando a população está crescendo. Também é usado em ecologia para determinar a distribuição etária geral de uma população; uma indicação das capacidades reprodutivas e da probabilidade da continuação de uma espécie. Geralmente, consiste em dois gráficos de barras de back-to-back, com a população conspirada no eixo X e a idade no eixo Y, uma mostrando o número de homens e um mostrando fêmeas em uma determinada população em grupos etários de cinco anos . Os machos são convencionalmente mostrados à esquerda e fêmeas à direita e podem ser medidos por número bruto ou como porcentagem da população total. As pirâmides de população são muitas vezes vistas como a forma mais eficaz de representar graficamente a distribuição de idade e sexo de uma população, em parte devido à imagem muito clara que essas pirâmides apresentam.
