Lago Poyang
O lago Poyang, localizado na província de Jiangxi, é o maior lago de água doce da China. A área do lago flutua dramaticamente entre as estações húmidas e secas, mas nos últimos anos o tamanho do lago vem diminuindo em geral. Em um ano normal, a área do lago é de 3.500 quilômetros quadrados. No início de 2012, devido à seca e à prática de armazenamento de água na barragem das Três Gargantas, a área do lago atingiu um mínimo de cerca de 200 quilômetros quadrados. O lago fornece um habitat para meio milhão de aves migratórias e é um destino favorito para a observação de pássaros. É alimentado pelos rios Gan, Xin e Xiu, que se conectam ao Yangtze através de um canal. Durante o inverno, o lago torna-se o lar de um grande número de guindastes siberianos migratórios, dos quais 90% passaram o inverno lá.
