Prusik
Um Prusik / prʌsɪk / é um engate de fricção ou um nó usado para colocar uma alça de corda em torno de uma corda, aplicada em escalada, canyoneering, montanhismo, espeleologia, resgate de corda e por arboristas. O termo Prusik é um nome para ambos os loops de cordão e o engate, e o verbo é "prusik". Mais casual, o termo é usado para qualquer engate de fricção ou dispositivo que possa agarrar uma corda. A palavra é muitas vezes incorreta como Prussik, Prussick ou Prussic, pois é um homófono com o termo ácido prussico. O engate de Prusik é nomeado pelo seu suposto inventor, o montanhista austríaco Karl Prusik. Foi mostrado em um manual de alpinismo australiano de 1931 para a corda subindo.
