O QUE SIGNIFICA RADIO GALAXY EM INGLÊS
Radio galaxy
As galáxias de rádio e seus parentes, quasares e blazars radioactivos são tipos de galáxias ativas que são muito luminosas em comprimentos de ondas de rádio, com luminosidades até 1039 W entre 10 MHz e 100 GHz. A emissão de rádio é devido ao processo de sincronismo. A estrutura observada na emissão de rádio é determinada pela interação entre jatos duplos e o meio externo, modificado pelos efeitos do brilho relativista. As galáxias hospedeiras são quase exclusivamente grandes galáxias elípticas. As galáxias ativas radio-altas são interessantes não só em si mesmas, mas também porque podem ser detectadas em grandes distâncias, tornando-as ferramentas valiosas para a cosmologia observacional. Recentemente, muito trabalho foi feito sobre os efeitos desses objetos sobre o meio intergaláctico, particularmente em grupos de galáxias e clusters.
