O Rediscount é o ato de descontar um instrumento de dívida negociável de curto prazo pela segunda vez. Os bancos podem redescobrir esses títulos de dívida de curto prazo para auxiliar a circulação de um mercado com alta demanda por empréstimos. Quando há pouca liquidez no mercado, os bancos podem gerar dinheiro através do redescobre de títulos de curto prazo. Rediscount é uma maneira de fornecer financiamento para um banco ou outra instituição financeira. Especialmente nos bancos do século XIX e início do século XX, os empréstimos concedidos aos seus clientes "descontaram" a nota do cliente.
