Repressor
Na genética molecular, um repressor é uma proteína de ligação ao DNA ou ao RNA que inibe a expressão de um ou mais genes ao se ligar ao operador. Um repressor de ligação ao DNA bloqueia a ligação da ARN polimerase ao promotor, evitando assim a transcrição dos genes no ARN mensageiro. Um repressor de ligação ao RNA liga-se ao mRNA e evita a tradução do mRNA para a proteína. Esse bloqueio de expressão é chamado de repressão.
