Secularização
A secularização ou a secularização é a transformação de uma sociedade de uma identificação próxima com valores religiosos e instituições para valores não religiosos e instituições seculares. A tese de secularização refere-se à crença de que, à medida que as sociedades progridem, particularmente através da modernização e racionalização, a religião perde sua autoridade em todos os aspectos da vida social e da governança. O termo secularização também é usado no contexto do levantamento das restrições monásticas de um membro do clero. A secularização tem muitos níveis de significado, tanto como uma teoria como como um processo histórico. Teóricos sociais como Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Max Weber e Émile Durkheim, postularam que a modernização da sociedade incluiria um declínio nos níveis de religiosidade. O estudo deste processo procura determinar a maneira pela qual, ou a medida em que os credos, práticas e instituições religiosas estão perdendo significância social. Alguns teóricos argumentam que a secularização da civilização moderna resulta em parte da nossa incapacidade de adaptar grandes necessidades éticas e espirituais da humanidade ao progresso cada vez mais rápido das ciências físicas.
