The Seven Sleepers of Ephesus foi um grupo de jovens cristãos que se esconderam dentro de uma caverna fora da cidade de Ephesus em torno de 250 dC, para escapar de uma perseguição de cristãos conduzidos durante o reinado do imperador romano Decius. Outra versão é que Decius ordenou que eles sejam presos em uma caverna fechada para morrer lá como castigo por serem cristãos. Depois de adormecerem dentro da caverna, eles supostamente despertaram aproximadamente 180 anos depois, durante o reinado de Teodósio II, seguindo os quais eles foram vistos pelo povo da cidade agora cristã antes de morrer. A versão mais antiga desta história vem do bispo sírio Jacob de Sarug, que é derivado de uma fonte grega anterior, agora perdida. Um esboço deste conto aparece em Gregory of Tours e em Paul the Deacon's History of the Lombards. A versão ocidental mais conhecida da história aparece na Legenda dourada de Jacobus de Voragine.
