Erro padrão
O erro padrão é o desvio padrão da distribuição de amostragem de uma estatística. O termo também pode ser usado para se referir a uma estimativa desse desvio padrão, derivado de uma amostra particular usada para calcular a estimativa. Por exemplo, a média da amostra é o estimador usual de uma média populacional. No entanto, diferentes amostras tiradas dessa mesma população, em geral, têm valores diferentes da média da amostra, portanto, há uma distribuição dos meios amostrados. O erro padrão da média é o desvio padrão desses meios de amostra sobre todas as amostras possíveis tiradas da população. Em segundo lugar, o erro padrão da média pode referir-se a uma estimativa desse desvio padrão, calculado a partir da amostra de dados que está sendo analisada no momento. Na análise de regressão, o termo "erro padrão" também é usado na frase erro padrão da regressão para significar a estimativa dos mínimos quadrados comuns do desvio padrão dos erros subjacentes.
