Supercondutividade
A supercondutividade é um fenômeno de resistência elétrica exatamente nula e expulsão de campos magnéticos que ocorrem em certos materiais quando resfriados abaixo de uma temperatura crítica característica. Foi descoberto pelo físico holandês Heike Kamerlingh Onnes em 8 de abril de 1911 em Leiden. Como o ferromagnetismo e as linhas espectrais atômicas, a supercondutividade é um fenômeno mecânico quântico. É caracterizada pelo efeito Meissner, a ejeção completa de linhas de campo magnético do interior do supercondutor à medida que transita para o estado supercondutor. A ocorrência do efeito Meissner indica que a supercondutividade não pode ser entendida simplesmente como a idealização da condutividade perfeita na física clássica. A resistividade elétrica de um condutor metálico diminui gradualmente à medida que a temperatura baixa. Em condutores comuns, como cobre ou prata, esta diminuição é limitada por impurezas e outros defeitos. Mesmo perto do zero absoluto, uma amostra real de um condutor normal mostra alguma resistência. Em um supercondutor, a resistência cai abruptamente para zero quando o material é arrefecido abaixo da temperatura crítica.
