Radiação sincrotrona
A radiação eletromagnética emitida quando as partículas carregadas são aceleradas radialmente é chamada de radiação sincrotrona. É produzido em sincronismo usando ímãs de flexão, onduladores e / ou wigglers. É semelhante à radiação ciclotron, exceto que a radiação sincrotron é gerada pela aceleração de partículas carregadas ultrarelativistic através de campos magnéticos. A radiação sincrotrona pode ser conseguida artificialmente em sincronismos ou anéis de armazenamento, ou naturalmente por elétrons rápidos que se deslocam através de campos magnéticos. A radiação produzida dessa maneira possui uma polarização característica e as freqüências geradas podem variar em todo o espectro eletromagnético.
