Burrhus Frederic Skinner era um psicólogo americano, behaviorista, autor, inventor e filósofo social. Ele era o professor de psicologia Edgar Pierce na Universidade de Harvard desde 1958 até sua aposentadoria em 1974. Skinner inventou a câmara de condicionamento operante, também conhecida como Skinner Box. Ele acreditava firmemente na idéia de que o livre arbítrio humano era realmente uma ilusão e qualquer ação humana era o resultado das conseqüências dessa mesma ação.
