Teleologia
Uma teleologia é qualquer conta filosófica que sustente que as causas finais existem na natureza, o que significa que - análogo aos propósitos encontrados nas ações humanas - a natureza tende intrinsecamente para fins definitivos. A teleologia foi explorada por Platão e Aristóteles, de São Anselmo, no século 11 dC, no final do século 18, por Immanuel Kant como um princípio regulador em sua Crítica do Juízo e por Carl Jung. Era fundamental para a filosofia especulativa de Hegel. Uma coisa, processo ou ação é teleológica quando é por causa de um fim, ou seja, uma causa telos ou final. Em geral, pode-se dizer que existem dois tipos de causas finais, que podem ser chamadas de finalidade intrínseca e finalidade extrínseca. ▪ Uma coisa ou ação tem uma finalidade extrínseca quando é por causa de algo externo a si próprio. De certa forma, as pessoas exibem finalidade extrínseca quando buscam a felicidade de uma criança. Se a coisa externa não existisse, essa ação não exibiria a finalidade. ▪ Uma coisa ou ação tem uma finalidade intrínseca quando é para nada além de seu próprio bem.
