Mikis Theodorakis
Michael "Mikis" Theodorakis (grego: Μιχαήλ (Μίκης) Θεοδωράκης, pronunciado, nascido em 29 de julho de 1925) é um compositor grego de mais de 1000 músicas e compositor. Ele marcou para os filmes Zorba o Grego (1964), Z (1969) e Serpico (1973). Ele é visto como o compositor vivo mais conhecido da Grécia. Politicamente, identificou-se com a esquerda até o final da década de 1980; Em 1989, ele atuou como candidato independente no partido de Nova Democracia de centro-direita para que o país saísse da crise política que havia sido criada devido aos numerosos escândalos do governo de Andreas Papandreou e ajudou a estabelecer uma grande coalizão entre conservadores, socialistas e esquerdistas. Em 1990 ele foi eleito para o parlamento (como em 1964 e 1981), tornou-se ministro do governo sob Constantine Mitsotakis e lutou contra a droga e o terrorismo e para a cultura, educação e melhores relações entre a Grécia e a Turquia. Ele continua a falar em favor de causas liberais de esquerda, relações grego-turco-cipriota e contra a Guerra no Iraque.
