Trichomonad
As tricomonas são uma ordem, Trichomonadida, de protistas anaeróbicos, incluída com os parabasalídeos. A maioria são parasitas ou outros endosimbiontes de animais. Eles tipicamente têm quatro a seis flagelos no pólo apical da célula, um dos quais é recorrente - ou seja, ele corre ao longo de uma onda superficial, dando o aspecto de uma membrana ondulada. As tricomonas se reproduzem por uma forma especial de fissão longitudinal, levando a um grande número de trofozoítos em um tempo relativamente curto.
