A wind rose é uma ferramenta gráfica usada pelos meteorologistas para dar uma visão sucinta de como a velocidade e a direção do vento geralmente são distribuídas em um determinado local. Historicamente, as rosas do vento eram predecessores da rosa dos compassos, pois não havia diferenciação entre uma direção cardinal e o vento que soprava de tal direção. Usando um sistema de coordenadas polares de grade, a freqüência de ventos durante um longo período de tempo é plotada pela direção do vento, com bandas de cores mostrando faixas de vento. As direções da rosa com os raios mais longos mostram a direção do vento com a maior freqüência.
